Example of substrate silanization

Solution   of    dimethyldichlorosilane    (  (CH3)2 Si Cl2  )   in

 hexane (5%):                                                             15 - 20 min.

Hexane, acetone, hexane:                                           3  -  5 min.

Washing with soap (mechanically) and with distilled water.

                Reaction:

LB films of fatty acid salts

LB films of fatty acid salts are deposited from aqueous subphases containing dissolved inorganic salts of divalent metals (Ba, Cd, Ca, Cu, Pb, and others) at a definite pH value. Salt formation occurs between fatty acid molecules spread at the air-water interface and metal ions. Usually, defectless uniform films can be obtained only if mixed acid / salt monolayers are used for the deposition. Degree of acid-into-salt conversion is pH dependent.
